The Royal Maas and infrastructure firm Van Uden Group have combined their forces to initiate a new Dutch offshore sailing team. The Rotterdam Offshore Sailing Team (ROST) is led by three-time Volvo Ocean Race veteran Gerd-Jan Poortman. The main goal of the project is to enable talented sailors to develop themselves in the international offshore sailing world. Currently, the team consists of talented sailors from the Rotterdam Region, sailing on a Ker 46. This is an ultimate carbonfibre sailing machine and one of the fastest vessels on the Dutch waters.
From the beginning, ROST Van Uden have been competing at the top of the fleet in a KER 46. They won the 2017 North Sea Regatta in ORC and IRC overall. Scored a second place in the RORC Cowes Dinard St Malo Race (in their 2nd offshore race) and finished 6th overall in IRC Zero of the 2017 Fastnet Race and in the top 20 of the IRC Overall class (400+ entries).
