SAILMON welcomes Richard, Philippe and Peter

Scheveningen/Netherlands, October 6 2017 – Dutch based nautical instrument solutions provider SAILMON welcomes Customer Experience and Service Director Richard Kent (GBR), International Sales Director Philippe Gié (FRA) and Customer Support Manager Peter Knight (GBR). Together they bring valuable expertise and experience to the company’s further growth and development. Their acquisitions take SAILMONs ultimate goal to make this world a better place for sailors a major step forward.

Richard Kent gained his expertise and experience by leading the electronics units of several successful campaigns in the Volvo Ocean Race and America’s Cup. With BMW ORACLE Racing he won the Cup and with ABN AMRO (2006/2007) and Ericsson Racing (2008/2009) he took two victories in the Volvo Ocean Race. Richard Kent on his new role at SAILMON: “I have been set the challenge of ensuring that SAILMON has the best customer experience and support in the marine industry.”

“To do this we are going to continually improve the user interfaces and information on the website and our apps to appeal to people with differing knowledge and interests in sailing, as well as improving our support structures to be more accessible through social media, through the telephone and especially online. My end goal is to gain the trust of the community to the point where users will help not only each other but SAILMON as we continue to grow and develop our products and services”, concludes Kent.

Coming from B&G, newly appointed Sales Director Philippe Gié speaks the ‘language’ of nautical instrument solutions very well. “I was the previous EMEA Sales Director at Navico, looking after the Custom Channel”, says Philippe Gié. “However, I always enjoyed working for smaller companies and SAILMON fits me very well, because I like sailing and boats.” When asked about his role at SAILMON Gié responded: “The goal is to create a worldwide dealer network to be able to push our solutions. We look for High end technical dealers, who are well educated in the racing and sailing community and we are also targeting the custom boat builders.”

Marine electrician Peter Knight is the third addition to SAILMON’s team, as announced on Friday October 6th. Despite his young age (30), Knight is no stranger to the professional sailing scene. His latest occupation was at America’s Cup Team Japan, as electronics engineer. In addition, he is an accomplished sailor, having completed many professional inshore and offshore races around the world.

On his first day at the office Customer Support Manager Peter Knight said: “I am very excited to join the team here at SAILMON. It is great to see a company working committed to bring sailing electronics into the iphone era.”
